AN INVITATION TO
FIRST BAPTIST OF MORRISTOWN
We are a gathering of people seeking connection to
the absolutes in a world that seems more and more to be transitory. We
seek this connection through the traditions and practices of the
Christian faith. Our interpretation of that faith is steeped in the
Baptist tradition of soul freedom. That recognition which sees faith
as ultimately a personal affair and each individual needs to approach
his/her search from the perspective which answers their unique
questions.
JESUS: SPECIAL POINT IN HUMAN HISTORY
The worship and spiritual life of the community
calls on the Biblical record to find how men and women down through
history have found their road to God. We see Jesus as a special point
in human history for it is the call of God to follow this one man to a
new and fuller relationship with the absolute that is God.
TRADITIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY MEET
Utilizing much that is traditional we strive to
enliven that path with the contemporary in terms of music, art, drama,
and the spoken word. It is our goal to bring the faith into the
contemporary lives of people from differing experiences. At our core
we are a worshipping community that seeks the answers and directions
to the ground of life.
DIVERSITY EMBRACED
The background of our people is diverse whether we
are talking about ethnicity, culture, life experiences, views on the
faith, and/or their current life styles. It is that diversity which
brings the rich differences within the life of the community.
CORE VALUE: SERVICE TO OTHERS IN NEED
Over the many long years of this community it has
been an active participant in the life of Morris County and that
active involvement, driven by a need to care for the forgotten all
around us, is still an integral part of this ministry.
